  • Water-saving warnings and possible nighttime restrictions land on greater Dublin, Meath, Kildare and Wicklow — while, Dooley says, 40–50% of supply leaks through cracked pipes first laid well over a century ago and never replaced.
  • The answer on offer is a €6bn Shannon pipeline, he notes — not investment in Vartry Reservoir, which supplies 20–25% of Dublin’s water and suffers algal bloom, or under-funded Bohernabreena; Ireland, he adds, holds no reserve supply where European cities keep 20–30%.
  • Over 120 data centres, Dooley says, switch from air to water cooling once temperatures hit about 25°C — and aren’t even metered for it; he recalls Phil Hogan threatening to turn household water “down to a trickle” over swimming pools while big business goes untouched.
  • He ties it back to the Rathfarnham floods four or five months ago and overdevelopment on flood plains — the same absence of planning — arguing restrictions push the burden onto ordinary people to deflect from those who created the crisis.

Hello everyone

Hello everyone. Over the last few weeks in Ireland, it's been very hot weather and wait for it, we've got the usual response from the authorities. Irish Water Ireland have come out with a warning to say there should be water saving habits should now be pushed by people because of the massive pressure on the network. And they said that power hosing, garden watering, and other forms of domestic watering should be avoided during this area. And they're even talking about.

Possible nighttime restrictions. Now, this would affect areas, for instance, around the greater Dublin area, including counties Meath, Kildare, and Wicklow. Now, there are other parts of Ireland which are being impacted by this as well, but anybody who's been following my videos over a number of years, I've spoken about the amount of leakage through the water system with the archaic system around Dublin. Many of these pipes have never been replaced since they were first put down well over.

A century ago and beyond. And at the same time, up to 40 50% of this leaks through the cracks in these archaic pipes that have never been replaced, as I said, but nothing about improving the water infrastructure. The answer now is to move towards the Shannon pipeline in terms of a 6 billion euro estimated project to supply water to the greater Dublin region. But what they won't talk about is the lack of investment in the water.

Infrastructure. Areas, for instance, like Vartry Reservoir in County Wicklow, which supplies about about 20 25% of the total water supply of Dublin. From time to time, that deals with bloom, which impacts the water quality and the water levels coming towards Dublin. Other reservoirs, such as Bohernabreena as well, have been vastly under-invested in in terms of the infrastructure. We currently have no reserve water supply in Ireland. Many European cities have up to 20 to 30% reserve waters, but in Ireland, we don't have.

Any. And now, they're running on empty following the recent dry spell. But, they won't talk about data centers, either, that consume so much of our water to cool down their systems. When it hits about 25° C, they move from an air cooling system towards water cooling. And, wait for it, they aren't even being metered for it. Remember the time Phil Hogan said he wanted to turn water down to a trickle for people in Ireland, and it was about.

Uh people who were filling their swimming pools with water. Well, they won't tackle big big business. They won't tackle the data centers. Over 120 data centers down in Ireland, and they consume so much of electricity. And, at the same time, there's a massive increase towards the energy grid in terms of ordinary people are paying for it for those big data centers. Now, the same as the water infrastructure. Uh many in other parts of the country use.

And this is the water quality we're dealing with now in Dublin, absolutely disastrous in terms of what's taking place, not to mention the serious pressure on the basic services by these big data centers. And not withstanding the massive increase in population we've seen over the past number of years, as well. This won't be discussed. It'll be.

And I spoke about the overdevelopment that takes place around many of these flood plains and we've seen areas for instance around the escort here as well being deeply impacted by this as well for years and years and years. And so so much for planning, so much for having a vision, so much for investing in proper public.

Utilities, public infrastructure and not putting the interests of those private conglomerates like data centers and big developers at the heart of all their policies and that's what they do and that's what what we're feeling the effects of it today and over the next period of time. What they'll be pushing on our own people to say conserve, no time restrictions, shut now taps perhaps and see what happens and to deflect the blame from themselves who have created.

So much of this crisis that we're facing as well. So thanks so much for the support and please subscribe to my channel. Take care. It's long over.

Water-restriction calls deflect from the real culprits.

After weeks of hot weather, Uisce Éireann warns against power hosing and garden watering and floats possible nighttime restrictions across the greater Dublin area — Dooley argues the conservation lecture deflects blame from those who ran down the network: century-old leaking pipes, unmetered data centres and no reserve supply.
