Hello everyone, another day in Ireland
Hello everyone, another day in Ireland. Yes, another day in this tavern. This time this took place in a church of all places. There's nothing sacred or safe in Ireland anymore. It happened in Tramore, County Waterford this morning just before 10:00 mass where a woman was attending this mass alongside of the 50 or 60 other parishioners before she was set upon by a man who stabbed her. Now, he was arrested time afterwards by the gardaí and the woman is in.
Waterford University Hospital. So, my thoughts and prayers are with the woman who was stabbed. Absolutely just um astounding. You know, really left without words to what's taken place in Ireland. Day by day it seems to get worse and there seems to be no let up in what's taken place. As I said at the outset, there's nothing safe or sacred in Ireland anymore. For somebody who's going about their daily business going into mass to express their faith.
And they should be expected to be left in peace in the sanctity of the church should be respected as well, but of course, this hasn't been in terms of this horrific attack. And also those who witnessed the attack as well. My thoughts are with all of those people who are going about their daily life, daily routines, going to mass and the effects that this will have on them and the wider community around Tramore.
Now, there was a massive police presence afterwards, emergency crews and an armed response unit. And afterwards the gardaí seized a knife and statements were then issued obviously from the diocese and from the parish priest. Now, the parish priest has said that they're deeply shocked by what took place. And this was echoed by the diocese. Um But this is just uh astounding to what's taken place in Ireland and it's well and truly on its way into the gutter.
When you think that a stabbing could take place inside a sacred place, a place of so much importance relating to so many people with their Catholic faith and their Christian beliefs as well. And and notwithstanding this, the reporting has been typically played down by the establishment to a massive extent. In terms of what's taken place in Ireland over the past number of years around the effects and people expressing their faith and their beliefs.
But I would doubt anybody should be allowed to
But I would doubt anybody should be allowed to express your faith and belief without being at risk of violent assault or being attacked. We all know where that leads to. We've seen for years and years in Ireland, going back into our recent history, in terms of the attack on people's faith for various reasons. And it still has to be discovered if this was motivated by religion or motivated by an anti-religious element or a terrorist element to this either. But let's see.
How this develops over the coming hours. But at the same time, we've seen media and many figures in the political class go and attack religious faiths in particular particular around Christianity and Catholicism in Ireland as well. And perhaps this has played into a wider narrative to admonish those who have their faith and of course, without doubt, every should be respected with their faith. And in particular, in a country that has such a strong Christian tradition which has been.
Eroded by the political establishment, and that is part of our history, part of our identity. And this has been massively, massively under attack from the establishment in terms of moving away from any kind of morals in society, driving society towards more of an individual society, rather than a society where people come together and have proper morals and proper beliefs in terms of standing up for justice and basic issues for ordinary people.
“Eroded by the political establishment, and that is part of our history, part of our identity”
But, at the same time, this is absolutely appalling what took place, this atrocity. And, as I said at the start, there's nowhere safe or sacred in Ireland anymore. Absolutely appalling. But, my thoughts and prayers are with the lady, who I believe is in her 50s, and I wish her well, and my thoughts are with all the wider community as well. People who were there directly in the church, and all who were affected by what took place at the transport.
At Holy Cross Church in Tramore, County Waterford, today. So, again, thanks so much for the support with my videos. And, from Dublin today, signing off. See you soon.
