Hello everyone, here on Molesworth Street in Dublin on
Hello everyone, here on Molesworth Street in Dublin on a early Sunday morning just after the protest was cleared down on O'Connell Bridge an hour or so ago. The fuel protest has run for the last 6 days. And there we can see Molesworth Street is blockaded off. Barricades everywhere. So much for democracy.
This coming Tuesday it all resumes after a 19-day break. Many of these TDs are just back from their Patrick's Day junkets. And then they started off on another long holiday. Micheál Martin and many government ministers have cancelled their visits to Canada. The so-called trade mission. I'm sure they were due to meet many big investment funds and maybe oil companies as well. Similar to the oil company that owns Whitegate oil refinery in County Cork that was once in the hands.
Of the people of Ireland but is now in control of a company that pulled in profits of nearly 150 million euro back in 2024. So here we have it, deserted Kildare Street in anticipation of protests I assume.
We've seen this over the last number of weeks. The absolute disgraceful treatment by the Irish government in terms of threatening to get the army on the streets. Micheál Martin in particular rather than engage with people talk to protesters. He escalated the situation. It's led to the confrontations we've seen in the last number of days. In particular around Cork and Galway. But then here we have Dublin.
Tents. Three tents just there at the back gate for Leinster House just there in the distance you can see where people sleep rough. And there's so many tents around this area. But you won't get the politicians up in arms over this. And you won't be getting the media doing exposés on what's really taking place on the doorsteps of Leinster House.
Because many of those well-cushioned and well-protected political…
Because many of those well-cushioned and well-protected political establishments are on their big salaries and totally disconnected from the lives of ordinary people. And this is what they do, isn't it? When people are disaffected, disenfranchised and left behind pull up barriers and barricades and prevent people from accessing their so-called public representatives.
So there you have it. Modern day Ireland. Getting ready for the European Union presidency. Where they're going to be the best boys and girls in the class. I'm sure they'll be dining in their places like here the Shelbourne Hotel owned by an international vulture fund previously Kennedy Wilson. They were brought in here because of the financial crash.
Based in Beverly Hills. And I always remember around the corner was the Merrion Hotel where the Troika stayed. IMF, European Central Bank and European Union member state time they were inflicting devastating austerity on the people of Ireland over a decade and a half ago that we're still feeling the effects of to this day.
Which opened the door to vulture funds and the rich in our society to embolden their wealth and control in Ireland as well with the political establishment as I stand here looking at the statue of Wolfe Tone one of our great Irish patriots who spoke spoke of and stood up when he organized the United Irishmen for Irish independence and Irish neutrality and to bring everybody together.
Never would never ordinary working people need to stand up to what's taking place right across Ireland. And remember the great patriots like Wolfe Tone here and many more who stood up for an Ireland for the people and by the people where we stand up for our sovereignty and independence and undoubtedly our neutrality which is being destroyed by the current incumbents.
“Never would never ordinary working people need to stand up to what's taking place right across Ireland”
So thanks so much for the support
