Hello everyone
Hello everyone. It really caught me up to the Irish government and in particular James Brown. He is the County Wexford Finna Fáil TD who is the Minister for Housing. Yet another Minister for Housing trying to, for very common, solve the housing disaster that his government and successive governments in advance of his have created in terms of manufacturing scarcity. Now, today Brown made a couple of comments when he was asked a question around the housing disaster. First of all, he said.
That it's all about supply. Now, isn't it all about supply, James Brown, when it's about his friends, vulture funds, landlords making massive windfalls from the housing disaster and keeping house prices artificially high? That benefits those who vote for Finna Fáil and Finna Gael, doesn't it? And he said it's about supply to deal with the high cost of rents, homelessness, and the housing disaster. Now, at the same time, we've seen the increase, so-called increase in supply the last.
Year, 2 years, in terms of 36,000 homes last year being put into the market. And a lot of this has been the private rented market to benefit those, vulture funds, investors, many based here in Ireland and many international vultures making massive windfalls from a basic human need to have dignified existence, to have somewhere affordable and secure to call your home. And he said there has been significant demand as well, pressures in particular since 2014. There's been 810,000 extra.
People in Ireland. And we know that through the mass immigration chaos. And he said he cannot deal with the demand side measures. Minister for Housing are complete and utter clown. I would argue he's the Peter O'Toole clown but doing the job of his globalist masters who have no interest in serving the needs of the Irish people. I created massive pressure on extra lack of under-resourced services and created massive issues with the housing disaster here in Ireland. And one example is here.
Is just across the road here on South Circular Road in Walkinstown. That apartment just above the shop right next to a central shop here is going up rent currently at 2 and 1/2 thousand euro per month. Who can afford it? Next to nobody. But it what they're bringing in rich wealthy international workers to come in and probably rent that accommodation that benefits the economy. He said at the same time and those answers to the housing disaster he's.
Claiming is around dealing with the said supply
Claiming is around dealing with the said supply. It doesn't deal with the demand side measures and he said there has to be a shift change in Irish housing policy. Well, how's that any more of the same? He said there should be a simplification of rules and a standardization and clearer rules for people. Well, this is part of the bigger one euro per market plan as well in terms of cutting out the red tape to allow those big investors come in, make.
Massive massive windfalls from a basic need to have a roof overhead and a home. But what he won't tell you is that this is part of the agenda to drive people into town or into accommodation for instance. We have lack of security and complete and utter unaffordability. And as you have any interest in really solving the housing disaster, first thing they would do is stop selling off publicly built houses through council house scheme.
As since the foundation of the state, two out of every three houses built with public money have sold off. Many now on the hands of private landlords making massive windfalls as well as privatizing the housing stock, which follows on from the deterioration here. The rent to buy scheme hasn't been replaced, hasn't been replenished, run down. We have one of the lowest social housing percentages right across Europe here in Ireland. And open the door to the international.
Investors as a part of the Troika bailout was to offer up public housing. Condition was to stop building public housing. Open the door to those vulture funds from Michael Noonan and Metem. In 90 times to open the doors to real estate investment trusts to come into Ireland and make massive windfalls and now they're trying to say they're solving the crisis. And they're going to solve it by supply, supply, supply. Don't deal with the demand side measures. Don't.
Deal with mass immigration. No, we won't deal with us cuz that's keeping the economy going, isn't it? And at the same time no restriction on non-EU nationals buying houses and homes. That's against the whole mantra of the market, isn't it? Don't interfere with it. And what comes down to supply at the sharp end we see people who are struggling and suffering without home to call their own. And this will continue in perpetuity with this government. They normalize.
“No, we won't deal with us cuz that's keeping the economy going, isn't it”
Homelessness, people on the streets, people queuing for food banks, people who are in overcrowded conditions at home, many who are emigrating, and many who are forced into object conditions in many hostels around Dublin city and many other parts of Ireland. So, this is the future. House prices going through the roof. And they're saying they're moderating. But it's about maintaining the status quo here in Ireland. Those that have versus those that don't. And that the case in.
Point was that apartments in across the road, just
Point was that apartments in across the road, just across the road in Walkinstown, 2 and 1/2 thousand euro per month. And uh wait for it, there's a wrap-around balcony. So, uh more madness to be seen coming from James Brown, the Irish Minister for Housing. Yes, more failures incoming. Well, all deliberate and all by design. So, there's nothing to see here. Thanks so much for our support with our videos. We really appreciate it. Thanks for the likes, shares, and comments.
And from uh Dublin on the Workers' Action Committee and the Socialist Party, this is Paul Murphy.
