TL;DR
  • The new schemes, announced by Darragh O'Brien and Martin Heydon: a €100 million fuel support scheme backdated to March for 120,000 farmers and 1,500 full-time agricultural contractors, plus a €120 million road transport deal for hauliers — on top of the €500 million package and excise cuts that followed the fuel protests; for ordinary working people, Dooley says, “absolutely nothing”.
  • Electricity prices are estimated to rise between 4% and 9% next month — a very conservative estimate, Dooley argues, with wholesale prices running about 20% above normal — pushing many more into fuel poverty while the Consumer Protection Act 2007, he argues, already gives the government the legislation to cap prices and tackle extortion and windfall profits.
  • BP's first quarter of 2026: €3.2 billion in profit, up over 120% on roughly €1.4 billion a year earlier, with a chief-executive pay packet Dooley puts at about €14 million this year — and he names the owners: BlackRock with around a 9% stake, Vanguard with 5%, State Street too, while Chevron and many more, he says, profit from the war in Iran.
  • The government's extra plan — asking people to cut electricity use at peak times — completes the picture for Dooley: divide-and-rule antics to buy votes ahead of the upcoming by-elections, dressed up in Simon Harris's talk of a “clean energy transition” for energy security; his answer is rural and urban working people uniting to “take back our country” instead of being pitted against each other.

Hello everyone and thanks so much for subscribing to

Hello everyone and thanks so much for subscribing to my channel. The Irish government have today announced their latest plans to address the spiraling fuel costs. Now, we've seen already in the last number of weeks the Irish government responded to the fuel protests by offering this 500 million euro package and in terms of context of addressing the excise cut reductions as well. But, wait for it. There's a little bit more, isn't there? A little bit more that was announced today by Dara O'Brien.

And Martin Hayden is two schemes for hauliers and agricultural contractors and farmers. Some more of the usual divide and rule antics by the Irish government. They've announced a 100 million deal, which is called a fuel support scheme, uh which has been offered back to March for 120,000 farmers and 1,500 full-time agricultural contract workers.

And also there is a road transport transportation a transporters deal, which is worth 120 million, which will look at supporting hauliers. But, wait for it. What's in it for ordinary working people apart from those? Absolutely nothing. In the last couple of days Dara O'Brien has also said that electricity prices are estimated to rise between 4% and 9% next month. Now, that is a very conservative estimate because currently wholesale electricity prices are running about 20% above normal prices. Now, already we see so.

Many people struggling with the extortion increases in fuel and energy, home heating oil, and um many more people are going to be forced into fuel poverty because of these government's antics. And they've responded with a typical response to try and keep dividing people rather than looking at for wholesale responses, which they have in the legislation as I stated many times. The Consumer Protection Act of 2007 offers the opportunity and legislation there to the government to cap prices and tackle.

The extortion increases on prices, extortion and windfall profits that are being made by these companies. And at the same time we've seen more and more people struggling because of these policies. In the last day it was announced that BP have come out with their first quarter of 2026 figures of 3.2 billion euro, an increase of over 100 and 20% since last year. Last year in the first quarter profits were about 1.4 billion euro.

And massive profits and massive windfalls for their chief

And massive profits and massive windfalls for their chief executive officer. It's estimated she's going to pull in a pay packet of about 14 million euro this year. And wait for it. It gets better. BP are owned by private equity companies, aren't they? BlackRock have about 9% stake in that. Vanguard with 5% stake. State Street also. So, um massive massive windfalls for these companies. Not the only one, there's many more like Chevron and many many more making massive.

Profits from the war in Iran while ordinary working people are still suffering. But, wait for it. The Irish government also have an extra plan. Now, this plan is to reduce energy and not to use off our peak times in terms of electricity. So, fantastic, isn't it? The Irish government again are playing their usual antics to try and divide people, try and buy votes perhaps in advance of the upcoming by-elections.

And more of the same nonsense from the political establishment around this. They'll never tackle the big oil oligarchs. They'll never serve the interests of the people. Already the Irish government are already looking and Simon Harris has spoken about moving towards this clean energy transition for their so-called energy security. Well, this is what the Irish government have let us left us with. An absolute disaster here in Ireland. As I said earlier, they can actually have recourse in terms of the taxation.

Measures in terms of capping prices and tackling those fuel oligarchs making massive massive windfalls as I've just outlined earlier. But, just another excuse, another racket to transfer money upwards while ordinary working people suffer and they play their divide and rule game to try and uh pit people against each other. So, perhaps if there's more protests in the coming period, it's trying to divide people rather than ordinary working people, rural and urban, should be uniting around all of.

These issues and take back our country to serve the needs of all ordinary working people right across the country. So, thanks so much for the support. Really appreciate it. And uh please subscribe to my channel. So, I'm Dublin Central. So long for now. See you soon.

Fuel supports for farmers and hauliers — and “absolutely nothing” for everyone else.

Fresh from its €500 million fuel package, the government unveils two more schemes through Darragh O'Brien and Martin Heydon — €100 million for farmers and agricultural contractors, €120 million for hauliers — while electricity prices are forecast to rise 4–9% next month. Dooley argues it's classic divide and rule: targeted handouts to buy votes while the Consumer Protection Act 2007 sits unused and BP banks €3.2 billion in a single quarter.
