  • On Easter Tuesday, trucks, tractors and buses block both sides of O’Connell Street — one arm of protests taking place right across the country against skyrocketing fuel and energy costs — as Dooley reports from under the Jim Larkin statue by the GPO; the protesters he spoke to say they’re staying until their demands are met, and he backs them fully.
  • The government takes 65% of every litre of petrol and diesel in taxation, Dooley says, and could drop it to support farmers, small businesses and working people — or cap prices and tackle the “fuel oligarchs” under the Consumer Protection Act Micheál Martin himself brought forward in 2007; instead a slight excise cut has already been eroded, and the official fuel conservation plan tells people to drive less, take public transport, cycle and walk.
  • He sets that against the establishment’s priorities: Helen McEntee handing over another €40 million in Ukraine, Micheál Martin “traversing the globe” — Washington D.C., Finland, Poland — and politicians on 16 days of holidays who won’t even recall the Dáil; a political class Dooley calls “globalists at their core”, with money for the mass immigration industry, corporate landlords and the very wealthy while unexploited resources lie idle off the coastline and the dictats come from von der Leyen and EU energy commissioner Dan Jørgensen.
  • Standing where the Proclamation was read 110 years and a day earlier, he reaches for Larkin — “The great only appear great because we’re on our knees. Let us rise” — and Connolly, executed at Kilmainham at the behest of the British “in cahoots”, he says, with Irish capitalists like William Martin Murphy; every right was won “from the streets” through direct action and civil disobedience, he argues, so the movement must be united, of ordinary people, and led by no organisation that’s been co-opted into the system.

Hello, everyone

Hello, everyone. I'm on O'Connell Street in Dublin city center. Today, Easter Tuesday, nationwide fuel protests are taking place right across the country. I'm here in O'Connell Street in Dublin city center under the statue of Jim Larkin and General Post Office. And there's trucks, tractors, buses blocking both sides of O'Connell Street.

So, this is taking place right across the country in response to the skyrocketing fuel and energy costs. Over the last few weeks, we've seen extortion increases in fuel and diesel petrol for people. Now, in particular, the Irish government has tried to respond or claim they respond by slightly reducing the excise duty. This is at the same time when this has been eroded over the last number of days. And the government take 65% of every liter of petrol and diesel in taxation.

They could intervene and drop the tax on that to support local and small businesses and support farmers and ordinary working people. But, they've decided against it. And they also have recourse under the Consumer Protection Act that was brought forward by Micheál Martin in 2007 to intervene and cap prices and tackle the fuel oligarchs. But, no, they didn't do that either. They've let the markets run roughshod over ordinary people, where people are suffering.

And this, at the same time, the Irish government have a fuel conserva- conservation plan, rather, in place where they'll tell people to drive less, use public transport, use the bicycle, and walk. Now, what's the solution for people who need it to get by day-to-day? And this will have a massive knock-on effect and is already in terms of impacting inflation in the coming period. We've already seen a massive cost of living disaster for ordinary people already in Ireland.

And this is going to be exacerbated by what's taking place currently with skyrocketing fuel and energy costs. We have unexploited resources and unexplored resources as well off our coastline that are left lying idle while people are suffering. At the same time, the Irish government have no interest in standing up and supporting the people of Ireland. They find every other cause to support, such as Ukraine and can hand millions {stroke} billions if you include those as beneficiaries of temporary protection.

Directive who have come to Ireland to support them

Directive who have come to Ireland to support them. The last few days, Helen McEntee was in Ukraine and handed over another 40 million euro. Micheál Martin has been traversing the globe over the last number of weeks. Was in Washington D.C., was in Finland, was in Poland. And at the same time, they're on 16 days holidays. So, they can't even come back and recall the Dáil to debate these issues. The Irish government do not represent the people of Ireland.

“So, they can't even come back and recall the Dáil to debate these issues”

The Irish political establishment are globalists at their core. They do not represent the people of Ireland. And it's great to see people coming out on the streets here today. And fair play to each and every one of them that have come out on the streets. I've spoken to quite a number of people today as well. And they're fully going to stay here until their demands are met. So, fair play to them. Fully support them. And people should get out and support.

Them also because it's vitally important that more and more people are waking up to what's taking place in Ireland currently. And the impact it's going to have on everyone. And in my most recent video, we did a video on the digital identification that they're trying to force through as well. Which is part of their bigger plan. They want to create it, the disaster, and now they're trying to come up with the solution. And they don't As I said, they don't.

Represent the interests of the people. And as I speak, I'm wondering the GPO, where the proclamation was read 110 years ago and 1 day ago by Patrick Pearse when he came out on the steps of the General Post Office. And they struggled and fought for our independence and for our sovereignty. They've no interest in serving the people. They've no interest in using the resources of our nation for the good and interests of our people. They've plenty of money for the mass.

Immigration industry, plenty of money to transfer to corporate landlords. They've plenty of money to transfer to the very wealthy in our society. But nothing to support ordinary people. And as I said, there is legislation there that they can basically put into play straight away. But they're not willing to do it. Because it's it doesn't serve their interests. And they'll work with their European partners, or so they claim. And get the dictats from Von der Leyen in the European Union.

And Dan Jørgensen, the European Energy Commissioner, rather than make up their own decision. Politicians are completely pathetic in Ireland and don't represent the interests of ordinary people. So, get down and support them, and fair play to everybody who's taken to the streets in every part of Ireland today. Because this impacts all of us. We need to stand together as one. And build a united movement that's not led by any of these groups that have been co-opted onto the system. But.

05:40

Ordinary people who have come out on the streets

Ordinary people who have come out on the streets today. Not led by any organization. As I spoke to so many people from all over, and it's great to see who are sold out by many of these organizations who are co-opted and and are brought into the corridors of power and get a few little kickbacks to keep the peace rather than stand up for only people. As I say this, I'm under the statue of Jim Larkin. And at the back of Jim Larkin, where Jim.

Larkin famously said, "The great only appear great because we're on our knees. Let us rise." So, it's time we rise. And they weren't co-opted into the system. Himself and James Connolly, who was here also in the GPO, it was injured here before he was brought to Dublin Castle for a short period before he was transferred up to Kilmainham Jail, where he was executed at the behest of of course the British, but in cahoots with the Irish capitalists of.

The time, such as William Martin Murphy, who he famously called the vulture of Dartry Hall, who only represented the interests of the people. You remember back in 1913, so many workers were battered and killed in the streets here through Bloody Sunday of 1913 as well. So, all of our all of our rights were struggled and won for through ordinary people standing up for their rights. Wasn't given to us by any benevolent leader or act of grace or an act of goodwill.

This is where struggle comes from. It comes through direct actions. It comes from civil disobedience. It comes from the streets. It comes from ordinary people standing as one together. And that's how we're going to get the change we really want in Ireland. It's not going to come from any political party or dynasty. It's going to come from all of us using our voice and speaking out and standing together as one as united people, put the interests of the.

People and as in In words of Sean O'Casey as well, "We will only be free when we own everything from the plow to the stars. And this is more important than ever in terms of resources in our state and in terms of driving the policy of our country as well. So from Dublin this evening, I'll just show you a closing shot of all the people who have assembled here as well. So they're going to be staying here.

Until their demands are met. So please support them wherever they are and fair play to them. Uh everybody who came out on the streets and they were standing on the streets as well. So share my videos and thanks so much as well. So long and farewell. Take care. Bye-bye.
