Hello everyone
Hello everyone. While the Irish government are talking about possible energy credits in the common autumn budget, a report was issued by the Economic Social Research Institute, which stated that back in 2024, one in seven households cannot afford adequate heat. Now, this is a country with record surpluses. It's never been wealthier. And of course, the richest 10% hold 50% of the wealth. While many, many struggle in poverty.
And this is not new. This came in a report that was from 2024. Things have worsened significantly since then in the context of the latest extortionate fuel increases. Already, Dara O'Brien, the Minister for climate, has come out to say there will be at least 9% increases in electricity over the coming couple of months. Back in 2024, Eurostat produced a report as well that said the Irish electricity prices were 30% above the European average. That meant an household paid an extra €355.
Above the European average for electricity. And it wasn't just that. It was also gas, which is 15% above the European average, fifth highest in Europe, and €183 extra. But over the last number of months, we've seen with the extortion increases in home heating oil and energy costs, this will go out of control. Now, previously, the report was issued this year that stated that one in eight people were arrears on their electricity bills, and one in four were in arrears on their.
Gas bills. And the usual so-called experts have been all over the media airwaves speaking about switching and um moving on to different providers and all this type of nonsense because um essentially, it's all just rearranging the chairs on the Titanic. Now, 30% of people are in energy poverty or risk of energy poverty in Ireland, according to latest reports as well, which is where you spend over 10% of your disposable income on energy costs.
Now, it's attributed at least 3,000 plus deaths due to fuel poverty, the effects of fuel poverty. And that's according to the Economic Social Research Institute as well. And it's not just Ireland, it's right across Europe where 41 million people are in fuel poverty. But nothing to see here for the so-called privatization of the energy markets, which is a completely contrived artificial scam where ordinary people are paying the penalty.
Now, this has always been part of the European
Now, this has always been part of the European Union agenda, the European Commission and European Union directives has been the liberalization and privatization of the energy market, where they created a completely artificial energy market to say it'll be more competitive, more efficient, and lower prices. Now, remember, before privatization, we had the lowest prices in Europe, and now we have the highest. It's not interesting, isn't it? So, that's what they tell you. But they've also worked on something.
Called marginal cost pricing, which is where the pricing is determined from the most expensive products produced to meet demand in terms of so many forms of energy, whether it's fossil fuels or renewables, that feed into the energy grid. And they've split up those services through power generation service providers and the network as well. This is part of the liberalization of the market from the European Union that they've pursued through this agenda, which is forcing forcing more and more people into fuel.
Poverty. And the solution from the Irish government is to provide energy credits, or so they claim. Because if you remember back in 2024, €575 million was transferred out of the public purse into private hands for so-called energy credits, which again, the private hands were those oil energy oligarchs making massive, massive windfalls from those from the power generation across to the service providers, which are one and the same essentially, in terms of profiting from these energy credits. And at the same time, the Irish.
Government now are trying to um propose this in the common budget. And the opposition are worse. They're calling for universal energy credits right across the spectrum. So, really, they're not telling the truth about the completely contrived and artificial energy market. Rather than serving the needs of of our citizens and of people, they're more interested in profiting off everything that moves. They've done the same with housing, done the same with the health service, and they've done the.
“So, really, they're not telling the truth about the completely contrived and artificial energy market”
Same with our basic needs, which is to have a liveable, dignified existence, which is to have heat in your homes. Isn't that interesting? But at the same time, rather than tackle the data centers, which are charged about 10 times less than households, and according to the European Union as well, their agenda is to boost the grid and upgrade the electricity grid through taxpayers. Uh this is notwithstanding the increase on the grid and the pressures through those data centers and moving this.
Forthcoming digital revolution
Forthcoming digital revolution. We all know where this is leading in terms of the digital euro and the digital drive right across the European Union, which Ireland is a frontrunner in. And the massive increase in pop- population in Ireland over the last number of years, which is putting pressure on our basic infrastructure, which is creaking at the seams. And that's just one case as in terms of the context of the energy grid. And also, in terms of the most recent.
War in Ukraine, where the cheap gas was cut off, interestingly enough, from Russia through the Nord Stream. So, they won't talk about that. They won't talk about the issues in terms of privatization of the market. They won't talk about the issues around the liberalization and neoliberal agenda through the European Union and their artificial market and with their marginal cost pricing, where ordinary working people pay. So, it's a complete another con job, another complete another scam. The.
Solution is to take it back under public control, where we can serve the basic needs of our citizens. But remember, they stopped pushing licenses for more oil and gas exploration back in I think it was 2020, 2021 period. And who was in government then? Oh, yeah. Eamon Ryan and his Green Party, weren't they? But we won't say anything about that because they've moved off to a nice plush job in Europe when they finished doing the damage here in Ireland, which is the.
Same as the current incumbents, who are still pursuing the same agenda now in a different format, such as Dara O'Brien is pushing this agenda and the push towards the so-called transition. Isn't this all about more control and pushing more money upwards out of the public purse? Yet another subsidy scam, which is just an excuse for transferring public money upwards, while ordinary working people are the ones that suffer. So, uh thanks for supporting my videos, really appreciate them. Thanks for likes,.
