Hello everyone. Digital Euro is one step closer. A couple of days ago in Europe, the European Central Bank secured key parliamentary backing for the launch of the digital Euro. This has always been the agenda of the European Union over the past number of years to drive towards digital ID and the digital Euro. This digital Euro will be a wallet guaranteed by the European Central Bank and will be marketed by banks and financial tech companies and will allow.
All European citizens to make payments online and in person. Now, we all know where this is going. Central Bank digital currency programmable that could be switched off at the behest of the European Central Bank. Now, they secured the backing of the European Parliament Economic Committee, which is the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee. And as I stated earlier, this includes a couple of Irish politicians who were in support of what's taking place.
Now, the idea is to have the pilot starting in the next few months and the agenda is set out to have this in train right across Europe by 2029. Now, we all know where this is heading, towards this totalitarian dystopia. Already Christine Lagarde has been eulogizing about it, but there is a little bit of opposition in Europe and the opposition is growing to what's taking place because many have argued about the danger of this in terms of moving.
Towards a Central Bank programmable money and in terms of the control of that in terms of the amount of Euros that could be held in anybody's account for instance.
